The American Dental Association (ADA) promotes public health and offers a few engaging classroom lessons for teachers. Are you an elementary school teacher or an involved parent looking for some fun worksheets? A Lifetime of Healthy Smiles is a lesson in good dental health habits for 2nd and 3rd grade students. The program will help children develop good dental hygiene habits that can last a lifetime.
The lesson includes three worksheets teachers will love:
Teeth Are Terrific will guide children to better understand why their teeth are important. It also explains why they are losing primary (baby) teeth and growing adult teeth.
Plaque Attack is a 7-minute lesson. It provides teachers with discussion points and questions about plaque and cavity-causing acids.
You Have The Power! highlights many things that children can do to keep their teeth healthy, clean, and strong. This lesson is approximately 15 minutes.
MouthHealthy.org, the public education site from the ADA, also offers more. Teachers can discover intriguing lessons geared toward ages 4-7 and students in grades 4-6. In addition, it includes a lesson titled Watch Your Mouth, for seventh and eighth graders.
